HMS Pinafore is about a clueless captain, petty officers, and a spirited siren who are all at sea. The story starts when the daughter of Captain Corcoran, Josephine, falls for a low-ranking sailor named Ralph Rackstraw.

Her father wants her to marry the First Lord of the Admiralty, Sir Joseph Porter. She's now torn between her father's desire for her marriage to Sir Joseph Porter and her one true love.

The story is based on love, duty, and honour and is great for people who love plot twists and absurd characters in a play. The English National Opera sees the return of Cal McCrystal to direct this production of HMS Pinafore in the London Coliseum.

'HMS' stands for Her Majesty's Ship. HMS Pinafore is a fictional British Royal Navy ship used in the operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan. They have written 14 operettas altogether.

The music is by Arthur Sullivan, with a libretto by W. S. Gilbert. Apparently, Sullivan also suggested that this play should be called 'Pinafore'.
