Following the award-winning production of The Mastersingers of Nuremberg, Richard Jones is back at the English National Opera to direct this exciting new production of Wagner's The Valkyrie.

The Award-winning ENO Orchestra is conducted by Martyn Brabbins, the ENO Music Director, along with a stellar cast of singers. The Valkyrie at the London Coliseum is part two of the four-opera Ring saga by Wagner.

Not only that, but this show is the first of a five-year collaboration for the London Coliseum as all four parts will be performed at the theatre.

Wagner's epic opera sees scheming gods plunge the Earth into conflict in their search for supremacy and power. With landscapes inspired by Norse mythology and the feeling of a final apocalypse, we see a lady in love and a man pursued, creating a calamitous clash between father and daughter.

What is The Valkyrie about?

Inspired by Norse mythology, The Valkyrie is the first of Wagner's epic opera Ring cycle that will be shown at the London Coliseum. This tale of destruction and revenge is coming to London.

A co-production of the Metropolitan Opera and the English National Opera, the story of the play revolves around two separated twins called Siegmund and Sieglinde. These twins have to face the wrath of the gods as they fall in love with each other.

Valkyrie Brünnhilde saves Sieglinde and their unborn child. Sieglinde will have to face holy retribution and a fight that has the ability to destroy worlds.

Love and conflict, including the wrath of gods, are the premises of this incredible opera. Wagner's The Valkyrie is a must-see at the London Coliseum this winter.
