In the month of December 1956, the ballroom was damaged by a fire, and the dance floor was destroyed.

After two years and five hundred thousand pounds, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom returned to its former glory. It was first designed and built by two architects, James Maxwell and Charles Tuke, and structural engineers, Heenan and Froude.

Some other attractions at the historical Blackpool Tower also include the Blackpool Tower Circus and the Blackpool Tower Eye. The Eye contains a 4D cinema, some gorgeous panoramic views from up top, and a splendid view down through the glass floor below.

The solid glass skywalk and the Eye provide some eye-catching views across the North West of England. The Blackpool Tower Circus is an attraction that has never missed a season since 1894, when it was first established.

Now, in 2021, it is 127 years old. The interiors of the hall are designed by the same person that designed the ballroom.

How do I get to Blackpool Tower?

If you are travelling by car, there are a lot of options to choose from. From London, you can travel via the M1 from the A4201, Outer Circle, Avenue Road, and A41. Drive via the M1 until you reach the M6. Take the M6 to the A5230 in Blackpool. This is the shortest route to the destination.

Alternatively, you can also take the M40 and M6 to reach Blackpool. It is a five-hour drive to the destination.

To travel via train, take an Avanti West Coast train from London Euston Station to Preston. From Preston station, take the northern train to Blackpool North Station. From the station, it is just an eleven-minute walk to Blackpool Tower. This is the shortest train route and takes just two hours and 45 minutes to reach the destination.

Alternatively, you can take an Avanti West Coast train from London Euston Station to Crewe Station. From Crewe, take an Avanti West Coast train to the Blackpool North Station.

There are two train stations, of which Blackpool North is the closest to the tower.

You can also travel by bus as the buses stop right outside the Blackpool Tower or the Town Centre, which is right around the corner.

There are various car parks near Blackpool Tower, and they are easily accessible. The Houndshill Shopping Centre is just four minutes away from the tower and provides parking at a rate of £2.70 for two hours. This car park can hold 770 cars at a time.

15 West Street provides parking to 177 cars at a time, costing £3 for two hours. It is just a six-minute walk to the destination.

You can park your vehicle at Central too. It is a car park that is five minutes walk away from the tower and can hold 730 vehicles. The parking charges are £3 for two hours.

Does Blackpool Tower have a lift?

The Blackpool Tower Ballroom is not on the bottom or ground floor; there are lifts provided in the Blackpool Tower that let you go to the top of the building. The lifts take you to a place that gives you a spectacular view of Blackpool with panoramic views. It is easily accessible.
