Kids who enjoy coloring will love these free printable amphibian coloring pages. Amphibians go by the scientific name ‘Amphibia’ and are small vertebrates that require water or a moist environment to survive.

Amphibians breathe in air and absorb oxygen through their moist skin and are lungless. There are three types of amphibians, namely frogs and toads, newts and salamanders, and caecilians.

The skin of an amphibian is thin and water-permeable, which is the reason why they have to stay near water bodies. Also, they keep their skin moist by constantly secreting mucous.

Amphibians only have a few primitive teeth in the front upper part of their jaws which helps them to hold their prey, but they still do not have the ability to chew and end up swallowing their prey.

Amphibians have four limbs, but unlike other land animals, they lay their eggs in water. This helpful sheet can be used to help kids with their coloring skills and also learn some facts about amphibians.

Did you know? Alexander Belayev is the author of a book named ‘The Amphibian’, about a visit back in time when deep-sea diving had not begun, and the underwater world had not been explored.
