Its two, distinct black stripes are present near its eyes and go all the way to its dark, black muzzle. These black stripes are also present close to the base of each ear and run across along the neck and back to the tail as a dorsal stripe.

They are usually Chamoisée in color, which is a shade of brown with hues of deep red bay, tan and black. Their forehead is almost fully black and they also have a black belly. Bucks can usually be seen with more black on their heads than females.
Bucks also have more white hairs than their female counterparts. The Oberhasli goat can also be nearly all black in color due to recessive genes.
