Kundurosaurus is an extinct genus of saurolophine dinosaurs, whose remains were uncovered from the Amur region of Eastern Russia. Very little information is available about this particular genus of hadrosaurid dinosaur. They were known to be herbivores by nature, that is they were largely dependent on vegetation for their daily source of food. Like all other dinosaurs, they too reproduced by laying eggs. After the hatching of the egg occurred, new juveniles were born. The specimens of this particular genus were uncovered in 1999. Since the full skeleton of this species is yet to be found, the exact size and weight of this species are not yet known. Some claim that these dinosaurs were rather small in size, however, this claim has not yet been confirmed.
The name Kundurosaurus can be a quite tricky word to say. Therefore, an easier way to pronounce it is by breaking the word into 'Kun-du-ro-sore-us'.
Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi) is a saurolophine dinosaur. They belong to the group of hadrosaurid dinosaurs, which are also known as duck-billed dinosaurs.
This extinct genus of saurolophine dinosaurs dates back to the Late Cretaceous period.
This particular species of saurolophine dinosaur became extinct almost 70.6 million years ago.
Based on the archaeological discoveries, this particular species of dinosaur lived in the Amur region of Eastern Russia.
Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi) lived in terrestrial habitats of the Amur Region of Russia.
There is very little information available on the other species of dinosaurs that might have coexisted with Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi).
The lifespan of this particular species is not yet known.
Like most other species of dinosaurs, the reproduction process for this species was also carried out by laying eggs. After the hatching of the eggs occurred, new juveniles were born.
This species of dinosaurs were rather small in size. The exact length and weight of this species are not yet known. The lateral side of the nasal of this dinosaur is covered with a thick ridge. The fossil remains have been discovered from the Kundur locality of Russia.
The total number of bones possessed by this species is still unknown. This is because the full skeleton of Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi) is yet to be uncovered. The fossil remains that have been found consist of an incomplete skull, and a few frontal and parietal bones.
Very little information is available about the communication process followed by this particular species. However, in general, almost all species of dinosaurs used to communicate with each other by emitting different sounds as well as with the help of body language.
The exact body size of Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi) is not yet known. However, few claim that this particular species might have been small in size.
Very little information is available about the exact speed of Kundurosaurus (Kundurosaurus nagornyi). They were herbivores by nature and therefore, might not have had the need to run fast to catch their prey, except on occasions, when they might have felt threatened by other large-sized dinosaurs.
The weight of this hadrosaurid dinosaur is still not known. Only a partial remain of the skeleton has been uncovered. Therefore there is not sufficient data to know the exact weight or even the length of this species. Although, some claim they were small in size.
There are no sex-specific names for this species or any other species of dinosaurs. A male Kundurosaurus is referred to as a male dinosaur and a female Kundurosaurus is referred to as a female dinosaur.
A baby dinosaur is called a hatchling or juvenile.
Since they were herbivores by nature, it can be safely assumed that this hadrosaurid dinosaur was less aggressive by nature, if compared to other carnivores. They mainly relied on vegetation for their daily source of food.
The fossils that have been uncovered from the Kundur region of eastern Russia include a partial skull, quadrates, parietal and frontal bones. Although various other fossils were also found from the same region, it is not yet known for sure, if they belonged to the same species.
This particular genus of Kundurosaurus is based on only one species, which is called Kundurosaurus nagornyi. Both Kundurosaurus and Kerberosaurus manakini have a few similar physical characteristics.
