A genus of the herbivorous thyreophoran dinosaur, Stegosaurides dinosaurs belonged to the Cretaceous period.
Although this dinosaur has been discovered enough to inform us about its existence, we are still way behind regarding its size, height and understanding its personality, like if it was greedy, territorial, aggressive, or if it would bite.
It somewhat resembles the Stegosauria genus, Stegosaurus meaning 'roof-lizard', which was found in North America and a few other places during the Late Jurassic period (third epoch of Jurassic period) and since our dinosaur of the day belonged to the Cretaceous period, it is a clear sign that the Stegosaurides evolved long after the Stegosaurus. Stegosaurus means 'Stegosaurus-shaped'.
Now, with that, let us jump into some interesting facts about this dinosaur of the suborder Ankylosauria, and genus Stegosaurides.

Did You Know…
The person behind the discovery of Stegosaurides was Anders Birger Bohlin, who excavated fossils near Xinminbao, in the west of Gansu, in 1930, during a Swedish-Chinese expedition led by Sven Hedin. These fossils only consisted of two vertebrae and a dermal spine base.
When Bohlin first studied the fossils, he thought they belonged to the family Stegosauria. However, later it was also argued that they actually might have belonged to the Ankylosauria.
Based on the presumed similarity with Stegosaurus' vertebrae, the generic name combines Stegosaurus with the Greek '-eides', which means 'shaped'.
With a body that huge, you might wonder if they had a brain that huge. Well, although not well studied, google web results can tell you a lot about the brain size of a Stegosaurus, which is way smaller in comparison to their body.
You can also find plenty of videos to watch related to Stegosaurus and other dinosaurs on Youtube to get a fair idea of Stegosaurides. You could also watch movies on dinosaurs as well as there are plenty!
