Have you ever wondered how the cream puff got its name? The tale goes that it came from the French word profiteroles (also spelled profiterole, profiterole, or profiteroles) which entered the English language around 1604.

Buns, puff, choux, and profiterole are all things that are served in bakeries and cafes. These little pastries came from the same four-ingredient mixture of flour, eggs, water, and butter. Profiteroles (or cream puffs) started gaining popularity when chefs started experimenting with the recipe and filled the hollow puffs with whipped cream, caramel sauce, ice cream, etc.
