Fun Tiger Quoll Facts For Kids
A tiger quoll is called native cats or tiger cats because of their spots and fur which resembles the fur of a tiger.
They are extant carnivorous marsupials, second in size after the Tasmanian devil. They have two subspecies.
The nominate is found in Australia majorly in southeastern Queensland, and another subspecies is found in northern Queensland where these subspecies are Endangered.
Tiger quolls are very interesting as they have a vast range of prey, as they can eat anything from an insect to a poultry animal.
What makes them more interesting is their fur as it is very beautiful and eye-catching as it is reddish-brown with white spots, making them a spotted quoll that helps them to camouflage in the wilderness.
Tiger quoll habitat loss is the major threat to them as even in wild they do not face many predators, they are only preyed on by wild dogs.

Fun Kosmoceratops Facts For Kids
Museums such as the staircase Escalante national monument in North America are home to several dinosaurs that lived millions of years ago and are a part of our natural history. One such dinosaur is the horned face Kosmoceratops which lived around 76 million years ago in western North America during the late Cretaceous period.
The species is one of the unique species of dinosaurs as it had horns. Specimens are generally found in southern Utah.
The generic name for these dinosaurs is ornate horned face. They were discovered in Laramidia and researched by scientists such as Sampson.
Today their skulls and other such features can be seen in a very special museum in North America. As these Triceratopses are ceratopsid, their fossils are very heavy and they are known as a quadrupedal genus.
Paleontologists all across the world love this species as it paved the path to study evolved animals. The dinosaur's broad frills and horn are very unique, making it one of the very few decorated dinosaurs.
Their relative species also possess horns above their eyes and pointed tips. Its other name is Utahceratops because these dinosaurs lived in southern Utah like their other related species.
This Kosmoceratops dinosaur also shares relations with other herbivorous dinosaurs such as the Chasmosaurine and the Vagaceratops. One interesting fact about this Kosmoceratops dino is its growth was rapid and it had a very elevated metabolism. This shows signs of this dinosaur being related to current-day mammals and birds.
The entire history of the Triceratops is both exciting and surprising! To learn more about species related to this dinosaur from Laramidia check out our articles on the swan goose and the trumpeter swan.
Fun Tsintaosaurus Facts For Kids
The Tsintaosaurus spinorhinus is a dinosaur that lived in the eastern part of China. Their distinctive crest is the main reason why they are known as the Tsintaosaurus today.
Earlier they were just known as a synonym for a hadrosaur. The crest of these dinosaurs was earlier considered to be damaged and therefore it wasn't tested as real.
They lived during the late Cretaceous time and were uncovered by Young in 1958. It's very interesting how their unicorn-like crest is responsible for the entire identity and classification of this dinosaur.
Their name also tells a very different story; their name is a synonym for other crestless hadrosaurs such as the Tanius. The name Tanius is also given to some other specimens from the same family.
The credit for their reconstruction goes to Wagner. The correct identification of the dinosaur with a crest on its head became a prime element of the research only because of Wagner.
The Paleozoological Museum of China has this genus and the public can visit to experience the structure of this giant. It is also assumed that Hadrosauridae lived in herds.
From fossils to current-day animals, the effect of the Dinosauria period can be seen on animals of today's generation as well. To learn more about such creatures make sure to check out our articles on the ostrich and mockingbirds.
Fun Barosaurus Facts For Kids
An American museum and the Royal Ontario Museum sing the glory of various dinosaurs who didn't live long enough to see the current world. The Barosaurus is one such dinosaur, which lived around 145 million years ago in North America and South Dakota.
Present day animals with long necks which we see are somewhat close in relation to these long-necked dinosaurs from the late Jurassic period. The Barosaurus is the Greek name for heavy lizard. This family of dinosaurs ate plants and were one of the most common sauropods.
They were found in the Carnegie quarry. Another dinosaur, the diplodocus, and the Barosaurus were very similar to each other, although there were slight differences in vertebrae of the specimens.
The skeleton of a mother Barosaurus can be seen in various museums in New York. Their hind legs were a sign of strength and were of good use when it came to protecting their young.
These specimens of plant-eating dinosaurs are so long that their skulls would be the height of around the fifth level of a building when their body skeleton is arranged correctly.
The family tree of this sauropod is very simple and starts from the early Diplodocidae, from there they come under Diplodocids.
As we have around nine specimens of this sauropod, it's relatively easy to get discrete information such as blood pressure and intricate details of the skull and forelimbs of this dino. Fun Tenontosaurus Facts For Kids
The Tenontosaurus lived during the early Cretaceous time. These dinosaurs are very close in relation to the Deinonychus, which is a carnivorous dinosaur.
This genus consists of two species: the Tenontosaurus tilletti and the Tenontosaurus dossi. The fossil and skeletons of this species were found in western North America and Montana.
Remains of the T. dossi are not known about much as only a handful of skeletons are present. The first skeleton now rests in the Museum of Natural History and that's of an adult Tenontosaurus.
They existed around 125 million years ago in the Cloverly formation during the lower Cretaceous time period. The meaning of their name is 'sinew lizard', which refers to a genus of medium to large dinosaurs.
The Tenontosaurus came from the early Cretaceous period and they are a genus of ornithopod dinosaurs. Both species under this genus have a lot of similarities with the Deinonychus, which is why it's difficult to differentiate between juveniles of this species and those of the Deinonychus.
1970 is the year when Ostrom assigned this group of herbivore dinosaurs a name. To learn more about other creatures from our natural history make sure to check out our articles on the duck-billed platypus and the crown of thrones starfish.
Fun Trinacromerum Facts For Kids
The seas and oceans during the Lower Cretaceous time were ruled by plenty of marine reptiles, which are not generally considered to be dinosaurs. This extinct genus is often considered to have been sea reptiles rather than dinosaurs.
One such marine reptile are the plesiosaurs from an extinct genus of sauropterygian sub-order. The exact temperature of water they lived in still needs to be researched.
When we jump further into the classification of this member from the polycotylid clade, there is a lot to learn from their fossil. There are plenty of sister species under the Plesiosauria clade, the Trinacromerum comes under the Sauropterygia family.
The basics of the Plesiosauria family are Leptocleidia, Polyctylidae, the Trinacromerum comes in the third subcategory. They are also closely related to Dolichorhynchops.
It has also been discovered that Trinacromerum euoplocephalus dinosaurs existed around 155 million years ago. Although a variety of specimens from Sauropterygia have contributed a lot towards the discovery of their behavioral traits, a lot about them can still be learnt by studying various replies around us today such as snakes and tortoises.
