The right whale, also known as the black whale, has rough patches on its head, which may appear white due to lice or any other parasitism.

They can get as long as 59 ft (18 m). However, the highest recorded length of the right whale was 68 ft (19.8 m).

They are robust creatures and can weigh up to 50706 lb (23000 kg). The largest known black whale weighs up to 298,000 lb (136,000 kg). They are heavier than many other whale species.

Right whales are docile in nature and prefer to stay near the coast.

Because of this, they have been the targets of whalers in the past, due to which they have been enlisted as an endangered species, and thereby, they do not face as many threats from humans today.

However, mankind is still a threat to them as these whales are often found entangled in fishing gear, and are at risk of ingesting plastics in the sea.
