The Bradyceme also known as Bradycneme draculae, is a species of theropod dinosaur which was known to live in the Upper Cretaceous Sanpetru formation of the Hateg Basin range which is in present-day Transylvania, Romania in Europe. Bradycneme pronunciation in English is 'bray-dee-kuh-nee-me'.
Not much information is known about the Bradycneme habitat. The dinosaur is believed to have reproduced sexually just like other dinosaur species where males deposited sperm inside females and then females used to lay fertilized eggs.
Much of the information about this dinosaur species is based on the partial right lower leg. The physical appearance of this species involved a body with partial feathering with red-colored pigment that extended from the tail to the head and the leftover part of the skin was dull gray in color.
Other features included a sickle claw, large forelimbs, and teeth.
This was a meat-eating species and its diet was omnivorous, so food consisted of small reptiles, plant life and vegetation, young dinosaurs, and also the carcasses of dead animals. Communication used to take place through sounds and gestures.
The fossil of this species was first thought to be that of an owl and the first describers of remains of this species also described it as a giant owl. The Bradycneme name means, roughly, a 'ponderous leg'. This species was introduced on 'Planet Dinosaur'. It existed around 70 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous time period.
