Several fossils have been found in South America that aided scientists to create the first holotype. These terrestrial creatures were herbivorous in nature and inhabited forests or grasslands. They are from the Middle Jurassic period.
The term 'Patagosaurus' is pronounced as 'Pat-ah-goe-sore-us'.
Patagosaurus dinosaurs were a group of Sauropods.
These sauropods are assumed to have inhabited the Earth during the Middle Jurassic period.
The exact time of extinction of this dinosaur is yet to be uncovered.
Fossils of this dinosaur were discovered in Argentina.
Being a herbivore by nature, this terrestrial creature preferred living in forests and grasslands. It is not known how territorial these dinosaurs were.
They perhaps lived alongside the Condorraptor, the Piatnitzkysaurus, and the Volkheimeria. It is not certain if they lived in herds.
The lifespan of this dinosaur cannot be estimated due to a lack of scientific data.
Being oviparous in nature, these dinosaurs reproduced by laying eggs.
There have not been many discoveries. However, from specimens available, some of its possible features included an elongated neck and tail with a small head. They probably weren't very colorful or slimy.
It is not known how many bones they possessed.
Although the communication pattern of this dinosaur is yet to be uncovered, it can be assumed that it interacted through visual cues.
The average length of an adult Patagosaurus is estimated to have been 49-60 ft (15-18 m).
Being a Sauropod, this dinosaur was probably a slow creature.
The weight of a Patagosaurus is estimated to have been 8.7 ton (7,900 kg).
Male and female counterparts of this species can be simply referred to as male or female.
As this dinosaur laid eggs, its babies can be called hatchlings.
The exact level of aggression that this dinosaur showed cannot be specified due to a lack of sufficient data. It is also unknown if it was greedy or if it had the tendency to bite.
José Bonaparte is credited for rendering the name to this Sauropod in 1979.
